Life Changes

As I return to this blog, I return as a different person than the one who made the last post in April, 2012.  After that Easter post, I got into moving in earnest and set down both my computer and my camera in favor of packing our life into boxes.

Physically, the move from Maine to New Hampshire went smoothly, but emotionally it was difficult. However, today, just over three years later, I am happy to report that I am settled and am back to my creative self...my camera is active again, my gardens are thriving, and my cooking is getting rave reviews from my kiddos!

Even when life is challenging, I continue to look for and try to capture its beauty.  I hope that my images will inspire others to find the beauty in everyday life!

Easter Fun

Easter is a special holiday at our house.  We started our day with Easter baskets and a few photos at home.

After photos, we went to church for our annual Easter Egg Hunt.  I couldn't resist capturing this sweet guy keeping all his egg close!

I had a great time photographing Miss Joy and Miss Lily in their Easter dresses!

I also enjoyed "playing" with some of the photos to get some different effects...

Spring Lambs

A couple of weeks ago we spent a peaceful afternoon at Wolfe's Neck Farm in Freeport, Maine.  We were very excited to be there to greet some of their newest arrivals, the lambs!

To me, this picture is the absolute definition of bliss!

A favorite picnic spot in Freeport

Leaving preschool today, Lily came up with a great idea to enjoy the beautiful day.  She suggested we get a picnic and go to one of our favorite spots, Wolfe's Neck Woods.  After briefly considering the piles of laundry and grocery shopping I needed to do, I enthusiastically agreed!  After all, the chores will always be there, but my five year old won't.  Despite the fact that the calendar still says winter, the weather was screaming spring and we had fun exploring and soaking up the sunshine!

Lily learned that if she hums to the snails, they come out of their shells.  She favors "Old MacDonald" while I find myself humming "Ode to Joy"...both songs seem to have similar results!

Winter at Land's End

Today was a beautiful day to drive to Bailey Island and explore Land's End.  I love to visit the beach in the winter.  It's quiet and peaceful without the summertime crowds and the color of the water always seems extra intense in the crisp, cool air.  Land's End offers tide pools for exploring, rocks for climbing, and a nearby candy shop making it a favorite family destination!

I also managed to get a few, fun pictures of the kids even though they were very busy exploring!

On the way home, I made a quick stop by the harbor to get some final shots.

Sweet 6-month Old!

The photos below are from an outdoor session with a sweet, 6-month old baby girl.  I processed them in three different finishes (sepia, black & white, and color) for three different looks. Which is your favorite?

Spring Dreaming

Forget winter!  All this bright sunshine and warm weather has me thinking spring!  I love to photograph the natural world and spring flowers make beautiful subjects!

A close-up of a tulip.  I love the colors of this one!
